An Explanation And Brief History Of The Ipod

I'm pretty sure that there isn't one person in this country who hasn’t heard of or experienced the iPod. The latest research shows that children know the price of one of these gadgets better than they do a loaf of bread, but for those of you who don’t know, here's a short guide to tell you exactly what they are about.

Basically, an iPod started off its life in 2001 as a portable music player. Since then newer 'generations' of the iPod have been released that allow the user to do so much more including things such as viewing images, watching videos and playing games.

The first iPod was the iPod classic that started off with a 1GB memory, and then came the release of 'newer' iPod classics with a larger memory capability. The start of 2004 saw the release of the iPod mini which changed its name to the iPod Nano shortly after the iPod shuffle was released in 2005. Since then newer releases of these models have been brought out with increased memory capabilities and the latest iPod model to be released was the iPod touch in mid 2007, which as you could probably guess from the name features a touch screen that allows the user to interact with the device.

Each of the iPod's have their own unique features or looks to help them stand out against all of the other MP3 Players currently on the market which has undoubtedly helped the iPod brand to become the king of the media player world.

The iPods are connected to a PC via a USB lead to enable them to be synchronised with the music currently on your computer or with music that has been downloaded through the iTunes software. The user then listens to the music via a set of headphones and is able to choose the level of the volume via the device. Music can be paused, fast forwarded, rewound, skipped or repeated on the iPods which gives the user full control over what they listen to.

As there is no age limit on music you will generally see people of all ages using this device, including the Queen of England who received one as a gift from President Obama recently.
