An Introduction To Directv Dvr Plus

By now most consumers are aware of DVRs, or digital video recorders. These are incredibly smart little machines that act like the old VCRs, video cassette recorders, in that they are able to record programs off of the television and replay them whenever a viewer would like. Of course modern technology means that DVRs can generally offer quite a bit more than a single function, and today they are integrated with televisions in some incredible ways.

For example, most modern DVRs can actually “pause” live television and, without missing a single second of the programming, begin the show when the viewer can return to it. This also means that such benefits as “rewinding” and “fast forwarding” through programming are also available.

Of course Directv, a leading provider of satellite television and one known as a remarkably cutting edge and innovative company, has taken DVR technology even farther than anyone else to date. First they made both DVR and HD (high definition) DVR equipment available to their customers. They then created some unique “smart” features that allow customers to program their home DVR equipment from locations as various as the Internet, through a mobile device or through their remote control. This means that an owner who forgot to set their DVR to record their favorite television program would be able to “phone” it from their mobile device and set the DVR to record the program desired.

Directv did not stop there however, and today they make available a piece of equipment known as the Directv DVR Plus. The units are able to receive the one hundred percent digital signal enjoyed by the millions of happy Directv customers, but it has the added capacity of two tuners. What this means is that a viewer could watch a program through one tuner and record a second program through the other – missing a good show is now a thing of the past!

The memory capacity of the Directv DVR Plus maintains up to seventy hours of programming, and will instantly rewrite over any program selected for deletion. This means that the total amount of usage is almost limitless!

Of course many people hesitate to invest in technology because they fear it will be too complicated or difficult to learn how to use to its fullest capacity or even properly. With the Directv DVR Plus however the remote control has been streamlined for the simplest operation and a subscriber needs to only know the few ways in which the equipment will seek out programs for recording.

For example, the viewer could just ask the equipment to record a program directly from the program listing, they could also select a “season pass” option for a series. This feature lets the receiver seek out the show, eliminate duplicate recordings and even understand if something has been canceled or rescheduled by the network. The equipment can also recognize actor’s names or even such “genre” settings as “science fiction” or “romance”.

It is easy to see why such smart equipment, constant expansion of programming and round the clock customer support continues to bring millions of new customers to Directv each year!
