An Overview Of Elliptical Trainers

When it came time to review the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer, we felt a little skeptical. This is because we've reviewed tons of elliptical trainers over the years, and none of them have ever stood alone from the competition. The only thing we felt it had going for it in the beginning was the name Schwinn attached to it. After all, they are extremely reputable and have been for quite some time. So we decided it was time to see if the 430 really offered a better workout than all the other options out there.

For All Skill Levels?

Most of the time, purchasing an elliptical trainer is based on your skill level. There are options out there for beginners, and options out there for experts. However, you don't really find too many ellipticals that offer both, which the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer offers. In fact, in their advertisements they say these are for any skill level. So we opted to let someone with no experience try it and then another person with tons of experience try it. After recording the results we found that the 430 was easy to use in both cases.

The beginner stepped foot on it first, and the very first thing he said when trying a few levels is; "This is a lot more comfortable than the machines I normally use. The movements feel a lot more natural." Our expert user hit the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer and said; "I was surprised that it could challenge me the way it did." We found out the reason for all this was because of the impact-free motion, as well as the upper and lower body flexibility. So after hearing from our test subjects we started to believe it could be the best option out there. Then again; we still weren't sold on the idea based on past experience.

Special Features

We were bound and determined to find something about the Schwinn 430 Elliptical that would cause us to group it with all the other machines like it. However, this model comes with BioGlide motion technology that makes the movements seem natural. The machine is also comfortable to use because of the unit's BioFit comfort footpads and handlebars.

Another area that is extremely beneficial is the eight computer controlled resistance levels. These provide everything from a manual program and 6 profile program, to a calorie goal function and your standard quick-start function seen on most elliptical machines.

Easy to Store

The Schwinn elliptical stores easily so that it won't take up much space when it's not in use. That's important for those people who don't have a lot of space in their home to accommodate the machine. Plus, the stride is only 18 inches so it should even work well in an apartment.

The only drawback that we found when we used the Schwinn 430 is that the user can only be 275 lbs. or under. While that still may accommodate most people, there are some people out there who will find that inconvenient because they'll be too heavy to use it.

All in all, we found that the Schwinn 430 Trainer is a step up from many of the elliptical trainers that we have reviewed and used in the past. It will challenge even the most experienced elliptical user, but it's still natural moving so it's perfect for beginners too. As long as you're not too heavy you should find the 430 a great workout machine compared to all others on the market.
