Apple has just made its second-generation iPad official. The iPad 2 is announced on March 2nd, 2011 and will be available on March 11th. iPad 2 is the modest but still significant upgrade to the original iPad.

Apple iPad 2 features a dual-core processor, a better screen, more RAM and storage, a front-facing camera, and possibly a rear-facing camera. The latest CPU is said to be up to twice as fast as Previous iPad and graphics performance is up to nine times better than on the original iPad. It is expected to run on both GSM and CDMA networks. The new tablet will come with an HDMI output capable of 1080p. Reports from numerous sources claim the upcoming iPad will be thinner and lighter than the original model and shipping of this product will began in last April.

The original iPad is equipped with a 9.7-inch (1024×768, 132 ppi) multitouch “glossy” LED-backlit IPS display and runs a version of the same operating system that powers the iPhone and iPod touch. It is powered by a custom-designed 1 GHz Apple A4 “system on a chip”.

iPad has different versions with 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB of flash memory and 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support. Other Features of iPad include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, dual mono speakers and a built-in mic packed in a 0.5 inch thick, 1.5 pound glass and aluminum case. The battery life of this iPad is reportedly 10 hours while surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music and it standby time of Apple iPad is around a month.
