Apply These Feng Shui Tips Today

If you are interested in the ancient science and art of feng shui, you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the conflicting advice to be found on the topic. A lot of people think you have to hire a feng shui professional to visit your home and give you a reading about where the positive energy is and what you should do with every room but this is in fact unnecessary in almost every case and there is a lot you can do yourself to improve the positive energy flow.

Anybody can encourage the positive energy to flow and discourage negative energy with a few easy feng shui tips that you can use today.

Feng Shui Tip #1

Perhaps the most important feng shui tip is to start decluttering. Excessive clutter, simply put, is an energy drainer by feng shui standards. This can be old clothes that you know you won't wear again, broken appliances that will never be fixed, or anything else that you're not going to use. Everything is just a reminder of an unfinished project or unmet goal, which can drain you both emotionally and mentally.

This de-cluttering feng shui tip also applies to bigger things like car parts, furniture etc. if you have more than two large sofas in your living room, how come? If you have a garage full of useless car parts, why is that?

If you find yourself saying, "I'll keep this just in case," you know that it's probably clutter. Get rid of it.

Feng Shui Tip #2

Be aware of the color around you, in your home and your place of employment, and understand how color affects your mood and your emotional state. For example, a good feng shui tip when you want to increase your energy is to use bright, bold colors in rooms you use before you head out for your day, such as the kitchen or breakfast nook. Darker and warmer colors are good for when you want your mood to settle down, such as the living room or bedroom. Using warm colors of brown or green is good for these areas.

However, take care. This is not a case where "more is better." If you use too much of any bright color, this can overpower you and make you tense instead of relaxed or uplifted. If you use too much of a dark color, your mood can be brought down, or this can even make you depressed.

It can be a good idea to take a step back from your room, stand at the entrance to it, and be honest about it. Is the color a bit much? If so, tone down the shade or use something neutral throughout with your other colors as an accent.

The above are two very quick, simple feng shui tips to use in your own home, so that you can begin to feel the positive and powerful effect of positive energy, once you welcome it into your surroundings.
