When apologizing in any type of relationship you need to follow some basic rules of engagement. Not following these type strategies will assure you of failure and accountability each and every time. Always be truthful in your explanations when trying to apologize to your partner. Anything less than truthful will only hurt your chances of getting back together again or at the very least understanding your point of view on the matter. How do you hold yourself accountable? a) Less than honest? b) Being responsible c) Blame it on someone else The right answer here is B. Being responsible and being accountable is almost in the same vein but being responsible makes you admit that you were the one that caused the issue to happen in the first place. Even if external circumstances happened to you the primary responsibility lies in your court. You need to understand that and you need to convey that message to your partner that you hold yourself responsible and mean it. Where should you apologize? a) In a restaurant? b) At a baseball game? c) In a private secluded area The right answer here is C. You need to be in a place where both of you can talk about the situation and vent if necessary. Selecting a place where public exposure is kept away to keep the gossipers out of your life for the time being. You need to make your partner understand that you are truly sorry for your remarks or your actions and that comes from within yourself. Reading the answers to these basic questions can make or break your relationship. You can stand tall with credibility if you follow the guidelines even in general. Being professional and courteous in these trying times is necessary in order to come across as an empathetic human being.
