Are you a business owner or just an employee? If you are in the network marketing industry and looking to really find your place, most people just believe that by joining a program they now have their own business. That is not necessarily true and I will explain the difference.
You are a business owner if:
1) You are promoting your own website
2) You are promoting your own splash pages
3) You are collecting opt-ins through your own auto-responder
4) You are getting paid first
You are just an employee if:
1) You are promoting your opportunity through their website
2) You are promoting your opportunity through their splash pages
3) You are collecting opt-ins through your opportunity's auto-responder
4) Your opportunity is sending you a check
I hope that explanation helped clarify the different between being a business owner or being just an employee. You see, if the opportunity you are a part of decides to shut down anytime in the very near future, you will lose all the hard work you have put in getting leads into that opportunity. Legally, those leads do not belong to you because they opted-in to your opportunity's web site, not yours.
By promoting you through your own website, people are interested in learning more about who you are. They are giving you permission to send them information about anything that you are promoting or great information you may want to share with them. This is what owning your own business is about. All the leads that opt-in to your opt-in box and come to your auto-responder belong to you. You have always heard that the money is in the list. Well, the list has to belong to you and not your opportunity.
So don't continue to remain just an employee. Build your own business, promote whatever you choose, just be sure to do it through your website and your splash pages. This is the way to build your own business.
