Are Your Download Pages Being Robbed?

Searchers have learned how to get Google to reveal your download pages

As I examined the traffic to my webpages, I noticed one that came from a Google search. I clicked on that link and was presented with the same results page, my visitor had viewed.

On that results page, I found numerous links to 'thank you' pages, with the download link.

It happened that this visitor was from Africa but that wasn't the important thing, I had just learned.

Now I understand why so many of the resell rights downloads, provide 'thank you' pages with odd names. Instead of 'thankyou.html', there are things like 'thanks-be.html' or 'thank-you123445567', etc. Now I understand.

In case you happen to be the webmaster of a site that sells downloaded files, you might want to make changes to the names of your thank you pages, that contain the download link.

I'm sure I'm not the first to discover this little quirk but I certainly haven't read about it anywhere.

It's enought to make you think twice, when naming your pages. Do be careful with your resources.
