Being secure in your own home is a high priority for most people. The thought of someone violating your home is a fearful and disturbing thought, and the necessary precautions should be taken to prevent this.
Your home can be made much safer by taking some simple steps, and best of all these steps are either free or very inexpensive. Here are some simple and easy to use home security tips:
· Having too much landscaping and vegetation in your garden can provide places for a person to hide in. Where there are windows make sure that the vegetation is cut down low enough.
· Plant thorny bushes near windows. Anyone who wants to climb up to the window will get cut up.
· Place some outdoor lighting in dark places in your garden. Even better is if the lights are connected to motion detectors which turns the lights on-so no one can sneak up to your house.
· Make sure your front door and especially the frame are solid, and that you have good quality locks on it. One should not be able to kick the door in or bypass the locks easily.
· If you have very valuable pictures in your home, they can be locked to your wall so they cannot be removed.
· Every home should have a small safe in a guarded place. In this safe all your smaller valuables can be safely locked away.
One last tip is to always use common sense in regards to home security. When you leave your house make sure all the doors and windows are locked.
When you go to sleep at night do the same thing-check all the windows and doors.
These tips can make a huge difference to the security of your home, but only if you actually take action and implement them. Unfortunately most people will only take action after they have been victims of a burglary.
