Arnold Grummer Paper Making Kit - Learn The Art Of Paper Making & Fun And Easy Projects For You And Your Kids

How To Make Paper

First you will need several supplies from your home. Water, fiber and a handmold. Water from your faucet will work fine. Second, you will need fiber. Paper you have thrown away or just laying around the house will provide you with all the fiber you’ll ever need. Third, you will need a handmold, which is a wooden frame. The handmold can be made by yourself or it is included in the paper making kit.

There are two ways to make paper: The pour method and the dip method. The pour method is for making one piece of paper and the dip method is best for more than one piece or project.

The pour method uses a handmold with a deckle (frame) with high sides, usually 3 inches or so. To make paper, the handmold is set in a dishpan with 3-4 inches of water. A small amount of pulp is poured into the deckle. To make pulp, simple tear paper in pieces and put them into a blender on medium speed for 30
seconds.

Examples of paper include newspaper, magazines, junk mail, labels from jars and cans. Any kind of paper in the house can be recycled. The pulp is poured into the deckle. Then removed from the water and sponged and dried using the directions
in the paper making kit.

The dip method allows you to create more than one sheet of paper. A dip handmold has a deckle (frame) with shallow sides. It is dipped into a dishpan filled with 3-4 inches of pulp. The advantage of the dip method is it is the fastest way to make many similar sheets.

Paper Projects

Examples of some projects are cards and envelopes, bookmarks, writing paper, gift tags, name tags, book covers and much more. You may also put botanicals in your paper by sprinkling the botanicals on the paper when it is in the deckle.

Making paper can be a fun experience for you and your children. With the Arnold Grummer Paper Making Kit, you will be on your way to making beautiful gifts for the whole family.
