#1 - Opening an article
With writing, you need to capture the reader's attention within the first few sentences. You might do this by asking questions like I have above, or you might start an article like this: "This article will tell you X and show you how to do X within Y amount of days". GRAB THE READERS ATTENTION!
#2 - Filling out an article
Don't turn off the readers. If you want to achieve 500 words, but you feel like your 400 word article has covered the lot, then stop there. Most people only have an extremely short attention span, so by adding useless information, you are lessening the likelihood of getting a sale.
#3 - Close your article with style.
Article marketing for any reason needs to be precise and to the point. For this reason, you need to close with something called a resource box. This box can incorporate a couple of links to a site of yours, but make sure everything is pertinent.
Here is an example:
I have a site related to Extreme Sports and I'm selling energy based drinks. My article has been talking about the importance of hydration, so my resource, with two hyperlinks, might read something like this.
"Thanks for reading my article about Hydration. Energy levels and Hydration are both exceptionally key, so if you want to learn more, please click through to my site"
