Article Marketing: Tips And Tricks

Article marketing is a highly effective way of gaining many backlinks to your website or blog. Not only does it help you in gaining a large number of backlinks, it also helps in establishing yourself as an authority in your niche. When compared to other link-building techniques, article marketing is much simpler for the benefits it gives. For this reason, many people in the Internet marketing field recommend it and use it themselves.

There are other link building techniques, like directory submissions or link exchanges. However, none of them are as good as article submission. The reason behind this is that a single article submitted to a popular article directory can gain many backlinks. There are many webmasters and bloggers who reprint articles from articles directories on their sites, and this creates a good number of backlinks. Another plus point of article submissions is that you have complete control over the anchor text. You can target specific keywords of your choice and also provide deep linking to internal pages. Neither of these are possible with directory submissions.

You can begin article submissions by registering yourself at popular article directories like ezinearticles.com, articlecity.com, etc. You can either write new articles yourself or rewrite your current articles and submit them. For example, if you have a blog, you can recycle older blog posts and submit them to the directories. Just do the math: if you submit 50 articles to 50 article directories, you will get 2500 targetted backlinks. These backlinks will boost your pagerank and search engine rankings.

The minus side of article marketing is that it is a tedious job. At least, it is not as simple as buying links or exchanging links. Many webmasters/bloggers may also remove links to your site and use your articles. Personally, I wouldn’t care about it because those links wouldn’t count much anyway. However, you should note that most article directories have a TOS in place which states that the articles should not be edited in anyway nor should the links be altered while reprinting the articles.

For maximum benefit, use article marketing along with directory submissions. This way a good number of backlinks can be achieved in a short span of time (usually 2-3 months). Use anchor text variations. Do not use the same keywords, vary them. Also do not just link to the homepage alone. Link to the inner pages as well. This way you can be sure of not getting penalized by search engines for link spamming.
