Article Writing—how To Write A Compelling Title
First, what you should not do when you write the title. Avoid using high pitched sales words Most article writers use strong sales words in the article title to capture the attention of the readers. Using superlatives like ‘ most amazing’,’ topmost’, ‘ earth shattering’, ‘stunning,’ ‘most unbelievable’, ‘ unprecedented’, etc make the readers suspicious of the intentions of the authors. They want information that they are looking for and are wary of being hoodwinked into buying anything they do not want. Avoid using garbage characters Using asterisk, quotes, tildes or any similar tricks to attract the attention of the readers may not help the author as these tricky signs obstruct the search engine spiders to pick up your article. Avoid using irrelevant keywords Some writers use apparently attractive keywords in titles that actually have no relevance to the topic of the article. Trying to dupe the reader using such tactics may bring a bad name to you and they would avoid reading your articles in future. What makes your title attractive? Use keywords or phrases in your article title that the searchers are more likely to use in order to come upon your article. The title should indicate what the article is about and what information the searcher can expect from it. The first 3-5 words in the title should actually be the main keywords that reflect the search intentions of the readers. Capitalization of first letters of important words Each important word in the title should start with a capital letter. Capital letters call for readers’ attention. It, however, does not mean that each letter of the article should be capitalized. This kind of ‘shouting’ for attention may prove counterproductive.
