Astrology And Science
'Science' today follows certain rules of proof, empirical experimentation and public data sharing. In the past almost any subject that was studied intensely could be called a 'science'. The old way of thinking accepted philosophy and religion as 'sciences' too. Many famous astrologers studied astrology, so in the past it fell under the old definitions of 'science'. Astrological readings were also accepted as part of a regular medical diagnoses. Contrasting the older and newer definitions of 'science' highlights difference in how people conceive of an individual's place in the world. Astrology talks about the harmony of a particular individual with the cosmos, represented by the stars. Western medical science maintains focus on the individual, his or her body, and a few factors in the immediate environment. Western science has its own procedures to change many of its previous discoveries depending on how well the old ways work and on even newer discoveries. On the other hand there is astrology, which appears to have discovered and established ideas based on things that are already known, with no room for change. You could say modern science has the capacity to change, while astrology is satisfied with the body of knowledge it already has. Astrology prides itself on being the same as it was in the ancient past. Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com Noo Yawka maintains an open mind about astrology.
