Happiness Is Viewed As A Mental Illness By Some

I just returned from the grocery store with an interesting lesson in human psychology. As I pulled into the parking lot with a smile on my face I felt a set of eyes fixed on me. I glanced to the side and noticed a woman glaring at me. As I opened my door and continued smiling she turned shook her head, got into the car, and slammed the door.

My windows were up. No loud music. No reckless driving. No behavior that could be considered offensive other than a smile. Just a positive, energetic guy smiling in a shiny BMW.

I don't know why the woman was unhappy, but I know that she was unhappy with me because I was happy. Or energetic. Or in a BMW. Maybe she doesn't like people who attract wealth. The point is that I gave off positive energy and she was emitting negative energy. Two people totally out of harmony with one another. Her natural response was to dismiss me as being crazy, loony, or whatever idea she meant to convey with the glaring and head-shaking.

Relative Realities

In her reality she can't POSSIBLY imagine how someone could be so happy. Since she literally can't imagine it the next LOGICAL step is to think that there's something wrong with me. Again, I can't say exactly what's going on in her mind, but the angry glare and dismissive gesture, along with slamming the car door when I said hello, are fairly consistent with a happy person. What she doesn't understand is my happiness is not based on some external condition. It comes from within.

Joe Vitale discussed an ad in Japan which he came across which when translated went like this:

"I'm so happy. It's not logic."

That sums it up for me. My reality is primarily happiness. I have my moments but I consider myself to be a happy person. I've learned that I attract wealth in all forms by being happy. This happiness infects most others. It won't change people. That's not my goal. I simply want to add positive vibes to the Universe. Being happy is the best way to do that. Happiness is also the feeling which motivates people to accomplish tremendous feats. High achievers move into inspired action since because their minds are coming from a place of happiness.

Her reality at that moment was unhappiness. It was actually anger at the point which she slammed the door and turned away from me. It was like we were in 2 entirely different worlds for a moment. I stared out of mine wondering how she could be so unhappy, and she wondering how I could be so happy. When your energy is so strong at either end of the spectrum, it seems to be "Reality" for you. Your being becomes filled with these strong emotions and you'll naturally act upon them. Of course I prefer the higher end of the energy scale :)

Happiness Is A Choice

So many people are unhappy because they feel it's normal. Ask someone how they are and a common response will include their troubles. They might be doing "OK" but will proceed to give the reasons for why they aren't really happy. You might get 1 in 100 people who respond with "Excellent." By saying "excellent" I attract wealth, health, and happiness. These emotions create similar emotions. The cycle continues until you decide to break it.

I am one of those 100 because I've realized that happiness is a choice. I've experienced many difficult circumstances in life but I've chosen to look past them. I know that they were vehicles for my advancement. They helped to make me the happy person that I am today.

It's always on you. No matter what happens nobody or no circumstance can control your thinking unless you allow them to.

Choose happiness. Your happiness depends on it.
