Baby Crib Safety Tips & Guidelines

When looking at baby's equipment with considerations of importance, it is fairly obvious that that child's crib would be the most important based on how often and how long the baby sleeps in it. A crib is one of the major purchases that many new parents make when they have a newborn. Although it is preferable if the crib looks nice and works well with the decor in a baby's room, the truly important factor to think about is how safe, and in addition, how sturdy, any given crib is. The overall safety of your child needs to be your primary consideration if you are contemplating the purchase of a new crib, such as the Davinci Annabelle Mini Crib.
SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is widely known about in the United States, and cribs might plausibly be the most obvious culprit in those deaths. Because of their potential link to SIDS, the federal government has released safety standards to be complied with in cribs produced since the year 1973. These standards were enacted to make certain that crib manufacturers and retailers only market products which meet or go beyond these safety guidelines.
Even though the government has standards to ensure the safety of cribs which are being sold today, parents are ultimately responsible to take responsibility for your child's safety when deciding on and buying a crib. Keep in mind, this issue is about protecting and caring for our precious babies. Most parents would quickly tell you that their child is the center of their world and all precautions that could be taken towards protecting their baby are well worth it.
The first suggestion that should be followed when you are considering the acquisition of any baby crib is that there is no space between the frame and the mattress. Mattresses which do not follow this rule may enable an infant to accidently go beside it, allowing the mattress to eventually asphyxiate your child.A good crib to consider is the Davinci Annabelle Mini Crib.
Another important guideline regarding the mattress is whether or not the mattress is firm enough. An especially soft feeling mattress once again can conceivably cause asphyxiation because the the infant's nose and mouth could be buried in it. Last but not least, the side rails need to be taken into consideration. The crib railings should be strong and close enough together that the baby's head will not fit between them.
Prevention is always preferable to the alternate consequences, so it makes sense that you insist on safeguards against preventable incidents such as suffocation. The Davinci Annabelle Mini Crib is a nice, safe product for the baby.
