Baby Shower Decor - Choosing The Correct Theme For Your Baby Shower

First, the theme of the shower must be kept in mind. Is the shower for a boy, girl, or unknown? Baby blue, pink, and light green are all great colors for a shower. Navy blue and yellow are also good colors if you're having a boy. Keep in mind, not every single item in the shower must match your colors perfectly. Accent colors are great, and it will still look good if not everything matches. If you can't find something that fits your color scheme, try to find it in white or a good neutral so it doesn't clash with the colors.

Beyond colors, you can have a specific theme, such as teddy bears, lollipops, baby bottles, pacifiers, or rubber duckies. For example, rubber duckies are cheap, you can use them to line the runners of your tables, or hand one out to every person who attends your shower. Lollipops are also very affordable! You can pick up the giant ones, and use them all around the room for baby shower decor, and let your guests take them home at the end of the day!

You can also use your decor as prizes. How fun would it be to have the winner of your baby shower games take home a giant stuffed teddy bear? Or have multiple bears around the room, and give them out to individual game winners. Pacifiers are great for decor, but at the end of the day you're left with a whole bunch of extra pacifiers, because most of your guests will have no desire to take them home.

Speaking of taking things home, don't forget a party favor bag! While not required, it adds a great touch to your shower and gives your guests a sincere thanks for showing up.

Table skirts in colors that match your theme are available at party stores. Also, paper plates, napkins and plastic silverware can all match your colors.

Banners on the wall are a great way to celebrate! You can buy rolls of paper made for banner design at party supply stores. Cutting out colored construction paper in the shape of letters required allows you to glue them into place to spell out the words. Try "Congratulations (so and so)!" if you can't come up with anything else. Don't forget the dad-to-be if he will be attending! "Congratulations Mark and Julia!" is better than simply "Congratulations Julia!".

Don't forget any food that may be present! A cake that matches the color and theme of the shower is a great way to tie everything together. If you're not going to be serving cake, cupcakes are another way to satisfy the sweet tooth - and you can do the icing in any way you wish to complete your perfect baby shower decor!
