Bacterial Vaginosis- Commonly Occurring

During their lives most women will find that they have to deal with bacterial vaginosis at least one time. This can affect a woman of any age. You will find that this happens when one bacterium grows too quickly and the other is not able to maintain the healthy balance. They are many different ways that a woman will be able to get better fast with natural and medical remedies that are out there.

When a woman has bacterial vaginosis one will find that they are going to most likely have an odor that is quite foul from the vagina. You will also likely find that there is a discharge that is going to be gray or even white in color and the discharge is many times thin. Some will even report that they itch around the general area. A few have even reported that it itches when they urinate. You might experiences none or all the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis. There are a few women that never even know that they have BV.
If you think that you might have BV the first thing you will want to do is to go and see your doctor. You will find that they are most likely going to send off a culture and do a full pelvic examination. Getting BV treated right is away is important if you don’t want to suffer from the embarrassing side effects. You might even find that if you leave this untreated that there are a few complications that might develop. When you have BV you are at an increased risked of contracting HIV as well as other diseases that are sexually transmitted.

After the doctor has determined that you have bacterial vaginosis they are likely going to give you a regimen of antibiotic treatments. Sometimes it will be oral antibiotics, other times it will be vaginal creams, and in other cases you might be prescribed bother. Many times there are two main antibiotics that are prescribed and these are Metronidazole and Clindamycin. These work by killing off both bacteria that are in the vagina. However, one needs to understand that when people are treated this way there is almost a 77% rate of reoccurrence within just a short period of time. The reason for this is because the cause is not really treated with the antibiotics but rather just the symptoms so once the bacteria grow back they are still likely to be imbalanced.
