Baked Pizza-spaghetti Casserole Recipe

This isn't pizza, but rather a baked spaghetti recipe that uses many pizza ingredients. I developed this recipe with my grandchildren in mind, and it was a hit. It's sure to become a family favorite for both old and young alike. Serve with green salad and toasted garlic bread for a complete meal.

Baked Spaghetti Pizza Casserole

1 pound package thin spaghetti
1 pound ground beef
1 pound mild pork sausage
2 cloves fresh garlic, chopped fine or 1 teaspoon dry minced garlic
1 large onion, chopped
2 large bell peppers, chopped
1 8 ounce package sliced pepperoni
2 4 ounce cans mushroom slices
1 cup sliced olives, green or black
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
2 24 ounce jars spaghetti sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
1 cup Parmesan cheese, divided

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare and lightly grease two 9x13 baking pans.

In a skillet, crumble ground beef and pork sausage. Cook until well browned. Drain grease and set aside.

Cook spaghetti following directions on package until al dente. Drain, rinse with cold water and drain again. set aside.

Pour spaghetti sauce into a large mixing bowl. Add browned ground beef and sausage, garlic, onion, bell pepper, pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt. Mix well. Add 2 cups mozzarella cheese and blend well. Add cooked spaghetti and stir until spaghetti is well coated.

Pour half of spaghetti mixture into each of the prepared baking pans. Smooth well. Top each pan of spaghetti with 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese. Top each pan again with 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese.

Cover each pan tightly with aluminum foil and place in preheated oven. Allow to cook for 30 minutes. Remove foil and cook for another 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from oven when spaghetti begins to bubble and cheese begins to lightly brown.
