Baseball Scholarships Effected Again

NCAA’s Division I Board of Directors approved some new rules starting in 2009. Starting with baseball transfers will be required to sit out a year ew rules recently approved by the NCAA’s Division I Board of Directors, starting in 2009 baseball transfers will have to sit out a year. Making it no different than basketball scholarships and football scholarships.

Secondly, all baseball scholarships be at least thirty three percent of a full ride scholarship. The maximum number of players on scholarships is capped at 27 and a max of 35 per team. These changes were reportedly imposed in a response to the concern that baseball has the second lowest graduation rate among sports with basketball being the lowest. If the universities do not abide by the new rule changes then they will have a reduced number of baseball scholarships to hand out.
