The safest option is usually to buy a board and bindings at the same time. By doing so, you shouldn't have to worry about compatibility issues.

Of course, there are extra items that you can buy. But the truth is that these basics will enable you to enjoy the sport from the outset. As you gain more experience, you may want to look at upgrading your board and buying additional accessories.
