Basic Putting Technique Will Improve Your Game
When it comes to putting technique, there are two fundamental styles. One is a straight back, and straight forward through style. Sort of like a pendulum. The putter maintains the same line all the way through. The other has the putter following a more arced path. This is meant to accommodate the natural turning of the wrists as you make your back swing, and follow through. This technique is similar to a very small version of a full swing with an iron. Whichever style you find most comfortable, you need to practice. In order to practice the proper putting technique you need to know how to situate your body. In either style you want your eyes directly over the ball. You should have your feet no more than shoulder width apart. You need to check your alignment very carefully. There are notable differences from one putting technique to the other. If you prefer the pendulum style, you want your wrists, arms, and shoulders to move as one unit. Like a pendulum! With the arced style, you are looser. You must remember it is like a micro iron shot. There are benefits to either putting technique mentioned here, but if you practice the fundamentals, you stand a great chance of dropping a few strokes very quickly.
