Bathroom Remodeling - How To Make Your Bathroom Remodeling Project A Success

Remodeling your bathroom can not only increase the value of your home, but it is a way for you to personalize it to better suit your habits, ways of life, and your own tastes. It is where you start your day and where you end it before going to bed. Why not customize it to reflect your own visions of what a bathroom should be, from rustic to contemporary to anything in between.

Begin by determining how much area you will need to make optimal use of the available space. If you need to enlarge, obviously you will need to determine if you can afford to lose some space in an adjoining area. Once you determine that, you can begin designing your dream bathroom. The internet is a great tool for getting remodeling ideas as far as shower design, materials, styles, fixtures, etc. At this point, your budget will probably influence your decision-making process. You can turn a plain-looking bathroom into something exciting and more to your liking with as little as a few thousand dollars. From there, the sky is the limit.

From a new travertine shower, fixtures, accessories, marble or granite vanity tops, jetted tub, wall tile, paint, decorative trim, mirrors, window treatments, new toilet, pedestal sink, and on and on, your choices seem practically endless. I would suggest you choose a theme and run with it. If you are changing the theme, then make sure to leave a little room in your budget for new décor (window coverings, bath mats, soap dishes, wall hangings, etc.) to match.

Find a reputable remodeler or contractor whose record can be verified and make sure you feel comfortable with them. You will be working closely with them and being on the same page is a must. Discuss with them your concerns and needs and have them give you an idea of how the project will be run, what sort of inconveniences you will be facing and how they will be addressed.

When choosing between the endless options at your disposal, choose what you like best and what suits you. Too often, we become overwhelmed with these options and have a hard time making decisions.

My advice is to simply go with what you like. I've worked with people who insisted that the shower and tub surround tile should match or be similar to flooring in color or style, while others insisted on contrast.

It's your home, your life, have it your way and enjoy.
