Be Careful While Choosing The Right Fundraising Event

There are several factors that must be taken into account while choosing the right fundraising event. Therefore whenever you are thinking of starting a charity fund raising event, make sure that you have a clear idea of the area of what the fund raising will be used for, who will help run the fund raisin event and where the fund raising event will take place.

Making sure of what your goals are for your charity fund raising because there are some technical issues that you might encounter for instance your non-profit fund raising has to support a legitimate charity and need to have non-profit exempt status so that your charity does not have to pay taxes on the money raised. Next while planning for fundraising events you should not forget to keep in mind the ethical considerations of the events. It is also essential that fundraising costs be kept to a minimum and the expenses ranging from 10% to 15%. Fundraisers must exercise extra caution when dealing with suppliers who are not at an arm's-length arrangement and must avoid finders' fees, kickbacks or incentives from suppliers.

Community standards must be respected when arranging for fundraising events. Events flavored with sexism, racism or age-ism should be avoided, as they will spoil the image of the organizations. Contest like eating contests, pie-throwing and similar activities are also becoming less acceptable because it carries the public to the world of hunger where people do not get enough to fill their stomach. Therefore food wastage and conspicuous over-consumption in an event can become moral issues. Even consuming alcohol heavily is prohibited. Drinking alcohol is completely prohibited in the religious groups whereas moderate drinking is acceptable for others. Therefore drinking contests are not a good idea and even if it is included in any events then the current trend is to include no more than one free drink as part of the price of admission to an event and that is usually only done at dinners. Smoking and gambling is also increasingly becoming an issue so it should be avoided as far as possible.

Besides these make sure to address the multi-cultural issues. It is also important to remain sensitive to inter-faith issues and avoid scheduling events during major holidays. Remember to survey the premises you may use for an event to make sure it is wheelchair accessible, from ramps to special washrooms so that there is no problem for those who cannot walk. Arrange for the interpreters who could interpret words into sign language for people with hearing impairments. Offering childcare, arranging special transportation and special dietary needs for some people will make an event more accessible for everyone.
