It probably comes from the form of the activity. I agree with this statement, because the riders of mountain bicycles usually take hard track, dangerous hill and also slippery road, and it could hurt the rider or even it can cause death in a cruel definition. However, actually mountain bike sports is not always be like that, you can choose safe track, hill and road. Even you can ride your mountain bicycles on the road as road bike, you should not ride it as you want to enjoy afternoon. You should ride the mountain bicycles as you have a purpose; to get healthy by doing sport.

Riding mountain bicycles can be fun as long as you are not afraid with the risk and form of the activity. You do not have to follow people who did an extreme sport by jumping from the high hill, all you need to do is only choose the safe track and you can enjoy your sport activity without getting injured. Finally, you will be healthier with your own mountain bicycles. This is not a bad idea as we all know that mountain bicycles are healthy vehicle in any time.
