Television is one of those instruments of daily life that can seem overwhelming when deciding what to buy. Cable broadband offers standard television service. It is most commonly available in North America, Europe, Australia, and East Asia, but it is present in areas of Latin America and the Middle East. Cable networks are most readily available in big cities and large communities throughout developed countries. With this idea, there is a natural monopoly regarding cable companies. Different cable companies do not wish to set up multiple cable networks in one area or location of the desired country, therefore one company builds a cable network and creates a monopoly of services. Without competition, prices and customer service often becomes less justified and less of a priority. The customer is often left feeling discontent, but rarely sees an alternative option for cable service.

An additional option for watching television programming is on the computer. The majority of television networks offers free viewing of their programs on their websites. A positive aspect of this is of course less commercial viewing and convenience of time and location of television viewing. Of course depending on where your computer is set up, this could mean less comfort. Many people opt to eat or drink something while watching TV, but this adds a risk to your computer as you would most likely need to sit closer to the computer in order to view the TV show. Computer screens are no where near as large as television sets and the sound system can’t even compare. Who wants to watch their favorite sports on a 15” viewing screen? When reflecting on comfort and enjoying, there is really no comparison with being able to sit back and relax while watching your favorite TV shows on the big screen.

Satellite television offers a more global network. In areas of the world that might not have access to cable programming, satellites allows for these locations to receive transmissions to provide regular TV programming. Whether you live in the far corners of Africa or in an undisclosed location out at sea, satellite television can offer you services. Imagine being able to watch HD TV in the middle of the Sahara Desert! Satellites do not work like cable broadband. Instead of providing services by running cables in the ground, satellites work with a greater range of productivity by providing services from outer space. It’s incredible to think how far they’ve come from the basic black and white ‘tube’ of the 1960s.
