Health insurance seems to be harder and harder to afford these days. While the reforming is changing the face of the health care system, one would think that this would be lowering the premium cost considerably for customers, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. This rise in cost along with gas, food and other essentials, it isn't hard to see why many policy holders are considering canceling the policy, but this too could be a risky behavior in decision making.

Health insurance is something that everyone needs to maintain. While it may sound like an additional expense that you can do without you will probably find that paying your health insurance premiums provides you with an invaluable protection and anyone who has had to live their life without it probably understands exactly how valuable their health insurance is.

Having insurance will allow you to see a doctor when any condition or situation presents itself and only requires a small co-pay, which is very affordable within these perimeters. Those without any health insurance coverage are more likely to wait until their health needs are critical, due the total cost of the care, especially the out of pocket expense that will incur, making the long run expense, most time more expensive that a monthly premium.

In addition to this if you were to be hit by a serious illness during a period of time when you are uninsured then you are likely to find financial hardship and even if you think that you don't have anything to lose it is very likely that you have more to lose then you think. Racking up medical bills and being denied lifesaving treatments can be devastating.

Before you drop or consider dropping your health insurance completely, you should ponder the consequences of your decisions. You can always raise your deductible to lower your premium costs. However if you are frequent patient at your doctors office, it can still be pricey, but it will still offer some financial relief over the short haul and offer some much treasured peace of mind knowing you are protected, in case of some devastating emergency. This also is usually never the perfect answer you seek, but it could easily keep the financial wolves at bay and keep your whole world from crumbling.
