Beginner's Guide To Building A List

You have doubtless read about the importance of building a list if you are involved in affiliate marketing or if you are thinking of getting into it. But building a list is the easy part and is completely ineffective, counter productive and a waste of your time and resources if you make the mistake that I outline in the rest of this article.

You will have read of many affiliate marketers boasting of the size of their list but building a big list is not a good use of your time if your list is comprised of untargeted subscribers and if you insist from the first message to the last to spend your time bombarding your list with offer after offer.

The whole raison d’etre of building a list is to build a relationship with each subscriber. You want to build this relationship in order to instil trust in your subscribers and to let them know that you can be trusted to recommend products to them that you know they will be interested in and that you have tested or have first hand knowledge of.

You will waste your time and effort if you simply wish to add subscribers to a massive list and make pitch after pitch. Instead you should always be providing good value to your subscribers such as good tips, videos, information of genuinely good products that you are intimately familiar with. You are far better off with a small list of targeted, loyal subscribers who place some value on your messages and who trust your recommendations.

This relationship building will take time but will pay off in spades but you do need to plan very carefully what message or information you are sending to your subscribers. The success of your list building will be founded on the relationship that you build with your readers and your ability to supply relevant, usable information to help your subscribers solve the problem that prompted them to give you their name and email to begin with.
