Learning the guitar is sometimes not as easy as you might think. You might have tried before and then given up in frustration. As with any new venture, beginning guitar will take patience, but reaps rich rewards. This article will show you 5 things to consider when beginning the guitar.
1. Find a decent guitar to learn on. If you are borrowing someone elses guitar, you may not be able to get in the time to practice that is so essential. If you have been given a guitar check that it is working well. There is no problem with using a pre-loved guitar , but make sure that there are no broken pegs and that the instrument produces at least a reasonable tone.
2. Find a good tutor or tutorial.By all means invest your money in an individual tutor, but keep in mind that this can be costly. There are some awesome tutoring programs available for both beginners and the more advanced to be found online for a reasonable price.
3. I do suggest you take the time to really concentrate on tuning the guitar. This is vital because if you don't it is much more likely that you will forget to practice only because you will find you are continually needing another person to do the tuning for you. There are of course some reliable electronic tuning units available ,however it may be better that you only use these as a check-point. Trust that your own "ear" will develop as time goes by. Don't overlook the importance of developing your aural skills along with the technical aspects of learning the guitar.
4As a new guitarist do think abouthow you hold your instrument, especially placement of your thumb on the neck of the guitar. Be careful right from the beginning not to pick up sloppy habits that will slow you down further on. These little habits may seem OK early on but they can be difficult to break.
5. Practice is the key to success. Keep trying even if it seems you are getting nowhere, keep going. Success is just around the corner.
Good luck and remember to have fun with it. Learning to play the guitar may well be the best thing you have tried.
