Best Grapes For Growing
When you are determining a variety to grow, keep in mind the location and climate you are in as this plays a major role in the growing of your grapes. Or instance, grapes that are grown in California are going to taste different than grapes grown in Europe. This is due to the fact that the soil is different as well as the weather conditions. Consult with local vintners in order to find out what grapes will grow the best in your area. Including hybrids, there are more than 5,000 varieties of grapes to choose from. If you live in an area that has a growing season that doesn’t last very long, you are going to be limited to hybrids. Grapevines can last through the cooler months and they are also able to withstand some diseases. However, the climate you are in is going to determine what varieties can be grown and will last. Even though hybrid varieties can grow in the cooler climate, not all grapes flourish in all areas. Try to figure out how long your growing season lasts to better help you choose a grape variety. The average growing season is determined by the amount of frost free days in your area. Each grape variety requires a different growing season, and some are longer than the rest.
