Best Skincare Products: Quick Facts You Can Use Now!
It’s hard to find the best skincare products, simply because we don’t know what to look for. I thought that 98.2% natural ingredients would be completely safe, at least. I thought I should start with “safe” and learn about effective, later.
The 98.2% natural product that I looked at claimed to “minimize the appearance of fine lines and aid in the skin renewal process”. That sounded good, I have fine lines and I know that as we get older the cell renewal process is not quite as efficient. We don’t produce as many new collagen and elastin fibers, so our skin starts to sag and wrinkles become more noticeable.
The company that I was looking at uses honey in most of their products and I know that honey is well known for its antibacterial and antioxidant activity. It’s been used for thousand of years to speed wound healing. It’s been used to treat conditions like acne and psoriasis.
I have neither of those conditions, but I like the idea of a natural antibacterial to prevent infection, without polluting the environment or exposing myself to the hazards of chemical antibacterial agents like triclosan. But, this product didn’t contain honey.
The company claims were based on an ingredient called “royal jelly”. I had no idea what that was, so I looked it up. It turns out that it is a honeybee secretion that is used to feed the larvae of the colony. It contains traces of B vitamins, but it’s mostly water. Over 67% of the overall composition is water, as opposed to 17% in honey.
I believe that some of the best skincare products contain honey, but I would recommend that you avoid anything that contains royal jelly. It is widely recognized to cause serious allergic reactions in human beings, ranging from hives to asthma and even fatal anaphylactic shock; so much for my theory about natural ingredients being safe.
Thanks to the internet and Wikipedia, you can learn a lot about the ingredients that cosmetic companies use. You can even learn what dermatologists recommend. One of their first recommendations is to avoid known allergens. Primarily, that includes preservatives and fragrances, but obviously royal jelly falls under that category, as well.
The best skincare products, according to dermatologists, provide moisture and prevent free radical and other types of damage. The epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin, has a hard time getting its nourishment and its moisture, since it has no blood vessels.
The most effective way to replenish the moisture and nourishment needed is with a topically applied lotion or cream. The best skincare products have clinical studies and scientific research supporting the effectiveness of their solutions to provide moisture, prevent damage and support the skin renewal process with nutrients.
On a daily basis protein peptides are needed to produce new skin cells. A patented product called Functional Keratin is an ingredient in some of the better lotions and creams on the market today. Creams that contain it have been shown to increase the number of skin cells by as much as 160% after just one application.
Obviously, keratin is something that the body needs to make new cells and the epidermis may not be getting enough of it. Another necessary protein is hyaluronic acid. The levels of this amino acid naturally decrease with age, but a type of kelp inhibits the breakdown and allows the levels to return to that of a much younger person.
So, the best skincare products that I have found contain kelp and Functional keratin. They’re safe and they work.
