Best Star Wars Action Sequences
In the movie The Empire Strikes Back the Empire are out for revenge against the Rebel Alliance and are looking to show them who's boss in a galaxy far far away. In the Battle of Hoth the Empire land their troops and some awesome heavy artillery in the form of AT-AT's which stands for All Terrain Armoured Transport. To combat this threat the rebels send out some snow speeders to take on the Walkers (AT-AT's). What follows is a stunning battle which made use of stop motion in the case of the walkers. The scene looked stunning when the movie was released and stands up to anything since made in the prequel movies. The Empire had to go for a ground assault as the rebels had a planetary shield prepared to fend off aerial bombardment. This vexed Vader so much that he had to force choke the Admiral who was managing the campaign. Battle of Geonosis In the movie Attack of the Clones the Jedi are rescued in the nick of time by the Clone Army led by Jedi Master Yoda. The enemy is the separatist group of planets who have built a huge droid army so that they can break away from the Republic. This battle includes walkers, droids teeming with missiles, Republic craft flying and blasting in all directions and huge Separatist ships trying to escape. It's awesome. There is also thousands of droids and clone troopers going head to head. When one of the Separatist ships crashes to the planets surface the dust cloud gives the battle an eerie eatheral look with blue and red laser blasts firing in all directions. Battle of Endor In Return of the Jedi the alliance fleet finally goes head to head with the Empire in the space above Endor. It is in an attempt to destroy the second Death Star which the alliance believes to be non functioning. They find out its all a big trap but keep on fighting anyway eventually destroying the Death Star by blowing it up from the inside, with spaceships. As a kid watching the rebel ships fly inside the Death Star was awe inspiring and still is. This scene has aged incredibly well. Battle of Naboo When the Phantom Menace was released in 1999 this was one of the stand out scenes. Thousands of battle droids are taken out of transports and come to life in one eerie scene. They move as one marching towards a Gungan army. At the same time there is a battle above the planet in an attempt to knock out the control ship of the droids. Anakin Skywalker accomplishes this by flying inside the huge droid ship and blowing it up by accident. The force just wanted it that way. In space there are the Trade federations Vulture droids set aginst the Nabboos' brightly coloured single man ships. Even though this battle repeats the trick seen in Return of the Jedi it is still an awesome sight.
