Best Way To Generate Leads And Sales Without Cold Calling

The old-school method of cold calling is rapidly losing its effectiveness while also being outlawed. Stop prospecting for customers the old-fashioned way and start using a new system for generating all the sales leads you could ask for.


The method of prospecting known as cold calling seems to be one the more prevalent methods of getting sales that beginner salespeople start out with. I say, “start out with” because they either completely give up on sales altogether after cold calling for a while or they find a better way to sell.

So why is cold calling still no common if no one enjoys it and it’s not very effective.

Well one of the biggest reasons is because that’s all new salespeople are taught. They are not taught sophisticated methods to bring leads to them. They are only taught to go pursue prospects and try to make a sale.

But what’s so wrong with cold calling anyway. Well the biggest reason cold calling is so ineffective is because it doesn’t offer any leverage. Which means you have to make call after call and once you stop, your prospecting stops as well. This downside also limits your ability to reach higher income goals that most salespeople desire because there are only so many hours in the day.

The second reason why cold calling is ineffective is because you are seen as a needy salesperson and you are essentially chasing your prospect. And what does someone do when they are being chased? They run away! It’s a natural reaction to being chased.

So what’s an alternative method to generating sales and leads without chasing while also using leverage?

Well one method that accomplishes these two goals is what I like to call the “bait method”. Find some bait to bring in the right person and then sell to them. This way you can distribute a lot of bait (or have other do it for you) and sit back and let all the prospects come to you.

So how do you do this? Simple.

First analyze whom you are selling and what they want (not what you think they need, but what they WANT).

For example if I’m selling investments and I know my prospects want the best stock tips and research without feeling like they are getting scammed I might write a free report or make a video and title it “The Top 5 Stocks You Must Know About Now And How To Buy At The Right Time”.

Once I create this free bait piece I’ll do some cheap or free advertising online, in the newspaper, and anywhere else I can find and offer my free bait piece.

Once prospects see my advertisements they will come to get the bait. Once they do I will collect their contact information so I can follow up with them and start to create a relationship. Once I do this and have a good relationship I can start the selling process.

Using a method like this will put you in a much better selling environment because you are now a trusted advisor and not a salesperson. Plus you also get leverage because you can get hundreds of people coming to you without you needing to call them one at a time. So you get extremely targeted leads while only doing a little bit of work.

Let’s see cold calling do that!
