Best Ways To Pay For College Without Breaking The Bank!
Financial gifts include scholarships, grants, and financial aid. Scholarships are great, but usually require a little homework to find. The reward for a few hours of work is more than worth it though, because you may find a scholarship that gives you thousands of dollars a year! Not bad for a few hours of research. Grants are similar to scholarships, usually requiring some kind of condition to be met. They are usually tax-exempt and come from non-profit organizations. Grants are not only given to college students, but also entrepreneurs, small businesses, and victims of natural disasters. Financial aid usually comes from your college or university itself. Financial aid is usually given to those students who have a single parent at home, or parents who don’t make much money. These different financial gifts are great, MUCH better than student loans, but still only make up half of the equation. Earned income is necessary for a few reasons: -Save for emergencies -Pay for entertainment -Help pay for luxuries (such as car and insurance) -Impress the ladies (or guys) and have money for dates To actually earn your income, you’ll have to get a job, right? Here are a few very common jobs for college students: -Waiting tables -Retail -On campus job -Special event company -Temp agency These are great, but usually the pay isn’t amazing. Another alternative is getting a co-op or paid internship. These usually pay a lot better and give you great experience and networking opportunities. Although this usually will extend your college career a bit (like a year), it’s one of the best ways to pay for college. Also, don’t put aside the idea of starting a small business either- there are a lot of options open that let you do it for almost no startup costs. Don’t believe me? How about these ideas: -Window washer -Parking lot cleaning service -Maid/house cleaning service -Landscaping -Online business such as affiliate marketing I threw affiliate marketing in there because it’s actually a lot easier and inexpensive to start than you may think. You don’t even need your own website, you just have to know what you’re doing. Affiliate marketing also has ridiculously huge potential and is the most flexible job you’ll ever find, so it’s definitely worth looking into. Again, the best way to pay for college is with a combination of different methods. This helps make sure you are set in case one method backfires. Thanks for reading, and good luck!
