Betting Scandal - Doggies In Trouble Again

The saga from the alleged betting fix involving the Bulldogs seems to follow a common theme for the Bulldogs club.

However I am impressed by the approach Todd Greenberg has taken is removing and avoiding the recruitment of so called 'trouble makers' from the club. Word on the street is that he individually speaks with all recruits to get a feel for their suitability to the Bulldog club.

Do potential bulldog players hold the values and principles that made the Bulldog club such a dominant force in the past....that is the question Greenberg seems to ask to himself to all potential players who wish to wear the blue and white.... and it seemed to be working.

One example was a potential Bulldog player being asked what he saw his role in the community being - outside of football. His response was less than impressive and hinted towards time spent outside of football was mainly around playing video games. The result, Greenberg did not hesitant in deciding this player was not suited for the club.

So how did Tandy slip through the Greenberg net?

It seems that his gambling problem was not known at his former club, the Melbourne Storm, and even if known amongst some of his closer colleagues, it was not brought to the attention of the Bulldogs.

This case highlights how punting that should be viewed as entertaining and for enjoyment can be used for the wrong purpose and can have far ranging implications.

When I saw this news story break, I thought about the rules listed in the Five Day Free tutorial and thinking towards rule #xyz "Have fun and know your rules".

Did Tandy know his own rules? If he did, this situation may have never arose.
