Beware Sneaky Computer Scammers
One wrong move and you can unleash a virus that not only can destroy your computer but your identity as well. Hackers come in two varieties. The first just want to mess with your system just for the fun of it because they can and the other wants to steal information to use for malicious purposes. These people are smart and they know what they are doing. Protection against their intentions is necessary and worth the investment in placing a security system on your computer. There are several security systems that provide a firewall as a first line of defense in detecting viruses that maybe harmful. Some names you may recognize are Penicillin, F-Secure and McAfee. These systems are affordable but must be renewed and often have updates that need to be downloaded periodically. Even with these systems, hackers will try to invade your computer and they are creative in the way they try to enter. They know you may have a security system so they send a pop up block saying you have a virus and need to download this program now in order to stop it. Before hitting any key, make sure it is the actual security system sending this information. Another tactic is to try and guide you to another site making you believe that you are going to your intended sight when you are actually going to their site. Tricky yes, but be observant because many of these hackers will do this when you are trying to get to a financial site. They seek credit card and bank information that can ruin your credit rating. Identity thief is rampant and it can take a long time before you can get things straightened out. Check the web address and make sure it matches the site you want to be and try to use secure sites. Scammers will always be around. Computer security systems are just another step in protecting yourself, much like having a lock box at the bank. While nothing is 100% guaranteed is does provide a way to notify you if the potential of a virus is out there. Caution is advised when something seems unfamiliar pops up on your screen.
