Billups Does Not Leave Detroit

Last Monday at a news conference NBA player Billups assured he will remain with the Pistons as Detroit was the first city and organization that showed him any appreciation in this early beginnings. Chauncey Billups signed a $60 million five-year contract with the basketball team and said ''My heart was set on staying in Detroit".

With Billups Detroit has had one of the league's most consistent stretches in the last two-plus decades. Three years ago, when the Lakers were defeated by Detroit, Billups was named the NBA finals MVP and the following year he led the Pistons to another title.

Throughout his first four years in the league, Billups was with Toronto, Denver, Orlando and Minnesota until 2002 when the Pistons hired him after bouncing around as a free agent.

His solid leadership and accurate shooting have made Billups one of the best NBA's top point guards.
