Biodegradable Plates Might Be On Every Table Before Long

Being wasteful is sadly something that has become the norm now. Close to 20mil cups, plates and other utensils are disposed of every day in the UK and US, causing a vast amount of unprocessable landfill. Tableware will likely always be a necessity, but we wouldn't be the greatest species on earth if we couldn't come up with some a little kinder to nature? One Richmond-based business think they have cracked it.

They have developed a complete range of biodegradable and compostable tableware that can be used in exactly the same way as ordinary products. They clean like any other tableware and are totally safe to use. The difference is that when they are thrown away, they will break down and provide nutrients for microbes and plant matter.

The company has been given a thumbs up from eco organisations and by local government, picking up a few important awards for their efforts. A non-profit group called New Visions where the latest awarders, giving the company both financial and moral support, something the group was set up to do.

$1,500 was the fund awarded to the company, which they plan to put towards further development work. Cutlery, saucers and plates are among the 30 products that they currently have in their collection. They are looking into making more utensils such a bottle opener and more detailed pieces like designer cheese knives

The company owner, Jocelyn Tice has spoken of her vision of making her alternative tableware available in outlet all over the world. "the is no limit to where it can be used" she stated. We will help save the world by not having to constantly find new places to dump these items, but everyone's finances will benefit also.

Additional to her newest tableware concepts, Jocelyn is now researching products from various industry sectors with the hope of applying the technology there also. She has also been approached by a number of larger companies who are interested in incorporating her products into their own table and glassware
