Birdman Mixtapes-the Early Years

There are a lot of artists who have made a name for themselves by appearing on rap mixtapes but only the elite make it as producers and record executives. Birdman mixtapes took the artist from being a hot new rapper to one of the biggest executives in the hip hop industry. However, he had to work hard to reach his impressive place in the world of hip hop music.

Birdman was known as Bryan Williams when he was growing up in the uptown section of New Orleans. He made the first Birdman mixtapes under the name B-32 and started making a name for himself in the local music scene. Before long, he was ready to expand and take his career into his own hands.

In 1991, Birdman decided that he was ready to move beyond being a rapper and stared his own record label, Cash money Records. In 1993, he released the successful album “I Need A Bag Of Dope.” It was the only solo album that Birdman would release throughout the course of his career.

In 1997, Birdman teamed up with rapper/beatmaker Mannie Fresh to create the rap duo The Big Tymers. They made more Birdman mixtapes and, in 1998, released their debut album entitled How Ya Luv That. After putting on additional albums in 2000 and 2002, the duo parted ways in 2004.

Although Birdman stopped performing as part of The Big Tymers, it was only the beginning of his illustrious career in the hip hop industry. He was ambitious enough to start his own record label before even releasing his debut solo album, which set him up perfectly to become a major player in the game. When his duo broke up, he was just on his way to becoming one of the most successful performers and executives in the industry.
