Blogging For Instant Income (part 1)

Weblogs can be the easiest opportunity for you to directly market your product or service to your target audience. The trick lies in ascertaining how you can use blogs to positively influence the opinion surrounding your product or income plan. That's because there are more than two million weblogs on the Internet, where people pour out their thoughts and experiences to anyone who cares to listen (I mean, read!)

Keep in mind that if you can create a blog, so can your competitors or an upset customer or a disgruntled ex-employee. As a direct marketer, it is important for you to present your target market with the right content on your business blog. But as part of your marketing system, you also need to track how your brand is being talked about in the 'blogosphere,' and take corrective steps if there seems to be negative feedback as this will decide how your product or service is perceived.

So how can we use blogging as part of a direct marketing method, and for reaching our TA?

1. Get educated. Read various blogs related to your product or service to understand your TA. Review these to see if your product or service is being talked about. Whether or not you are being appreciated, leave an appropriate reply.

2. Use relevant blogs to advertise on so you can directly reach your TA.

3. Update and revise the content for banner ads to maintain the 'uniqueness' factor.

Blogging provides more opportunities, and more challenges for a direct marketing campaign. So figure out your 'why' in starting a blog. Ask yourself, "How can my blogging enhance perception of my product or income plan?"

Since it's not kosher to use a blog to try and directly make a sale, find out how you can magnetize a large number of visitors and increase your exposure. In fact, most direct marketing methods have exposure as one of their top goals. Blogging is your opportunity to be connected on a global level and then have prospects reply to you on a personal level.

To engage your audience, follow these rules:

1. Write your blog in an easy-to-read style. Avoid run-on sentences. Keep words, sentences and paragraphs short and to the point and easily 'scannable.' Each entry should be 300-700 words.

2. Use readable fonts in readable sizes. Sans-Serif, size 10 or 12 points is typical.

3. 'Chunk' your content. Use small paragraphs with headings and bulleted or numbered lists for easy reading.

4. Search engine optimization is the key if you want search engines to find you. Place keywords in the title. But don't stuff the entry with keywords. If your prospects can easily find your content but quickly surf away because they can't make sense of your keyed up content, you have defeated the purpose of blogging. Aim for your keyword appearing six to seven times in your blog, as a general rule.

5. Keep in mind, your business blog is your unique window to the world. Write for an audience!
