Blogging For Mlmers And Network Marketers

I just finished setting up my first blog! A year ago I didn’t even know what the word meant, despite the fact that I heard or read the word "blog" daily. Here is a good definition of blog by the way.

A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual, with regular journal entries. You use a blog to post reviews, comments, product releases, product descriptions, etc., in order to get found by people searching the internet for your product or service or opportunity.

Blogging is an internet marketing tool that should be used by every MLMer or network marketer out there. Blogs bring prospects and leads to your business. You can no longer rely only on making lists of everyone you know (including family members and the clerk at the grocery store) and using those lists to actually build up a business to any viable size.

"Use the Force Luke…" And in our case, the "Force" happens to be the internet. Blogging is a way to get a web site on the internet for very little money in order to get yourself and your business in front of potentially hundreds of thousands of prospects. Why use a blog instead of a "regular" web site? Because you can change a blog yourself whenever you want to without waiting for your "webmaster" to get around to it. With a blog, you ARE your webmaster. And, it’s a whole lot cheaper as I mentioned. I have heard of free sites that help you build a blog, but the trade-off is those sites put their banners on your web site in exchange. Those banners direct visitors away from your blog. You might not want to direct people away from your blog if you are trying to promote or sell your product, service or opportunity.

I am not technically savvy at all. I can find my way around Outlook Express blindfolded and with one arm tied behind my back. But building a blog or a web site? Hah, that’s a good one. I definitely needed help for this.

Personally, I am a member of a network marketing training program that helped me set up my first blog using click by click tutorials. I used Squarespace for my first blog. For my next blog, I will use Wordpress. I can then compare both sites and see which one is better in terms of ease of use, understandable instructions and customer services. Squarespace has its own posted manuals, and they have a customer services department that really rocks. We'll see how Wordpress compares.

There are also network marketing training programs such as the one I am a member of which can walk you through blog building click-by-click. Use one of them if you want more help. Click-by-click tutorials where you build your blog while watching someone else build theirs is really excellent for anyone blog-challenged. It really doesn’t get much better than that unless you pay someone the big bucks to set up a web site for you. If you are on a budget and don’t have the big bucks for a full blown "web site" one of the above blog-building sites may be just right for you. They will also host your blog very inexpensively.

I recommend that every MLMer and every network marketer get a blog up. Break out of the old MLM training pattern and start using the power of the internet to promote and expand your network marketing business. "Use the Force Luke…"
