Book Tenerife Hotels And Relax On Stunning Beaches In The Sun

When you think of taking a holiday in Tenerife, you probably imagine yourself relaxing in the sun on beautiful beaches - and that is certainly an accurate image to have in your mind.

The largest of the Canary Islands probably doesn't have as many beaches as you might think, as most of its coastline is made up of craggy cliffs, but what it lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality.

There are golden and black sand beaches, and there are even manmade stretches of beach that have been designed specifically to suit sunbathers and swimmers. All of them are within easy walking distance of some of the many cheap hotels in Tenerife, as well as a selection of bars and restaurants.

If you are looking for a quiet resort, try booking Tenerife hotels in El Medano. Spending your holiday here will allow you to escape the hustle and bustle of the most popular towns, while giving you plenty of opportunity to relax on the island's longest beach.

There are around 2 km of golden sand bordering the turquoise sea and with only a few hundred people on the beach on an average day, you will have plenty of space for sunbathing and playing ball games.

If you enjoy water sports, you are likely to love El Medano, as it is renowned as the best place in the Canaries for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach hosts international competitions, but on most days there will be nothing to stop you taking to the water and giving it a go.

One of the best holiday resorts in the north of Tenerife is Puerto de la Cruz, which is within walking distance of the picturesque Playa Jardin beach.

At first glance you may think the beach looks odd, as it has black volcanic sand, but once you get over your initial surprise, you will soon conclude it is an ideal place to spend a lazy day.

And it should be perfect, as lots of work has gone into designing and remodelling the stretch of coastline to ensure it has the best possible conditions for holidaymakers.

The transformation means the bay now has long sandy stretches and breakwaters that create a sheltered area for swimming. However, it still looks natural – whether you are gazing out at the deep blue water or inland at the tropical fruit plantations and lush green gardens that are common in this part of the island.

As well as the beach, Puerto de la Cruz has a water park, formal gardens, a great selection of restaurants and some traditional bars in the beautiful old town - a combination that makes it popular with families and older holidaymakers.

The resort also has accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. If you are looking for a little luxury at an affordable price, Hotel Las Aguilas is likely to be a good choice. The rooms are of a high standard and you can enjoy a stunning coastal view as you take advantage of its restaurants, swimming pools and sports facilities.

If you want a lively holiday in a resort with a younger atmosphere, you should look to the south of Tenerife and book hotel rooms in Los Cristianos or neighbouring Playa de Las Americas.

Both towns boast glorious golden sand beaches, just yards from streets packed with restaurants, bars and clubs, making it easy to spend your nights partying and the days recovering in the sun.
