Brazilian Government Puts Construction At The Top Of 2012 Agenda

In a bid to continue economic growth across the nation, the Brazilian government has set its sights on the construction industry to spearhead the future of economic stability.

President Dilma Rousseff has pledged to invest further funds into the Minha Casa, Minha Vida (My House, My Life) project, which began a few years ago. The country’s Finance Minister, Guido Mantega said: “at the centre of our construction agenda will be housing development as we look to create homes for families.”

Waseem Saddique, CEO of Brazilian based construction company, HouseTech Developments, said: “this is fantastic news, not just for our company, but our industry sector as a whole. Knowing that the Brazilian government is set to continue investing heavily into construction fills us with confidence.”

The Minha Casa, Minha Vida project has already overseen the development of 457,000 homes in 2011 and in 2012 the second stage of the project is likely to see a further 600,000 homes being built.

Upon learning the news as to the extent of housing development scheduled for 2012, Waseem Saddique commented: “HouseTech Developments certainly sees itself as being able to play a part and contribute to the building of new homes across Brazil, particularly in Rio de Janeiro. We are extremely excited about the prospects for the year ahead.”

This scheme was originally set up a few years ago to give low-income earners in Brazil an opportunity to purchase decent and affordable homes. It also serves in making up for the Brazilian property shortfall, which currently stands at a deficit of around 5.6 million.

In a statement released by President Rousseff’s administration they said: “we are doing all that we can to ensure that the second stage of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida property program is a success.”

In response to President Rousseff’s statement, Waseem Saddique stated: “the Minha Casa, Minha Vida housing project reflects the great strides that Brazil is making in order to give everyone an opportunity to purchase a home.”
A report conducted by Fox Business had stated that significant investment was paramount if the South American nation was to hit its target of achieving a 4.5% increase in GDP.
