Breaking The Smoking Habit - How To Quit Without Looking Back

It's ironic how difficult people make quitting smoking out to be, especially when it can be easy. The trick to quitting smoking is all based on your mind-set.

Part of the reason why it's so difficult to quit smoking is that everybody says that it's difficult. If you want to break the habit of smoking, you have to first realize that it's not actually that terrifyingly hard to quit.

There are two kinds of people who quit smoking: those who merely quit smoking, and those who become non-smokers. Those who become non-smokers are just like non-smokers who have never smoked. They don't think about cigarettes, because they don't feel the need to smoke, what with being non-smokers and all.

Those who merely quit smoking, however, constantly live with their cravings for cigarettes, even years after they quit they're still denying themselves something that they want: cigarettes.

Why does this happen? Because almost everybody goes about smoking by telling themselves that they aren't going to smoke any more, and then trying to stick with that. This doesn't work because smoking is so deeply rooted in your mind that telling yourself you aren't going to smoke is like telling yourself you aren't going to eat. It doesn't work, eventually you'll cave in.

If you want to truly quit smoking, you don't deny yourself cigarettes. You need to get your mind into a position where it does not want cigarettes. Your mind has connected so many events during the day with lighting a cigarette that it believes it needs cigarettes to function. This isn't the case, however.
