In this parlance, mobile safety steps happen to be one of the frequently used material handling equipment in any workplace. It is an important equipment needed to meet safety requirements.

The safety steps vary in their shapes and sizes depending on the purpose. The steps are to be placed at a particular angle from the wall else chances are that the same would topple backward due to gravitational imbalance. Contrary to traditional ladders, mobile steps are more convenient to use and are easy to carry from one place to another. Most of the safety steps can be folded and occupy very little amount of space as opposed to traditional ladders. Mobile safety steps happen to be an up-gradation to folding ladders with extra bit of protection to ensure safety. Most of these steps function on the basis of safety mechanism.
Most safety steps are constructed with tubular joints. They are available in a number of finished forms, the most popular being epoxy powder coating, galvanized forms, or are painted with conventional spray. Red, green, white, black are standard colors for these devices. Sometimes the safety steps are customized with other colors as per requirements of clients.

The major types of safety steps are, handy steps, tilt and pull steps and heavy duty mobile steps.

The tilt and pull steps are ideal for reaching short distances and are prevalent in stores and warehouses. Practically these do not need any maintenance. On the other hand, heavy duty mobile steps are ideal for large manufacturing houses. Handy steps compose of one or two steps with or without a handrail and its height range from 266 to 432 meters.

The size of these equipments generally carries from two to ten feet depending on the purpose of use. They function due to interaction of several mechanisms like spring action, lever brake, and foot lock system. The foot lock safety steps are generally of welded construction. The steps can be mobilized or immobilized by simple operation of foot. They have rubber tyre wheels and nylon castors that assures strong grip of the steps. Now days, even rotating safety steps are available
Most importantly, the castors are loaded in spring which just contract once few pounds of weight is loaded. Most of these are catered with a non-slip base which ensures a firm grip to the ground. Additionally, circular pads are placed underneath to prevent the steps from toppling over once some extra bit of load is being placed.

Safety steps are a must have in factories and construction houses. These are of great help in the matter of lifting heavy weights. Using safety steps in the matter of lifting heavy objects reduces pressure on their spinal cord and ensures smooth flow of industrial operation.
