Brighton Pubs And Bars - Golfing Through Pebble Beach Party Town

Brighton has always been very highly recommended for a good night out. As I was in the area I thought that I would give the town a ‘pub golf’ once over and write up my findings for YOU, dear reader.
I was writing in my notepad as I was golfing along so after a time my writing became more like scrawling and my sentences ever more debatable in meaning. I have now deciphered my scribbles and come up with the best (or at least my favourite) pubs and bars in Brighton.

Ps. I did have more than this but I might as well have been reading Chinese Mandarin by the time I got to the end of my pad.

Ancient Mariner
59 Rutland Road

Excellent place to go for a cracking Sunday roast the ancient Mariner benefits from one of the best pub chefs in town. Known affectionately as Bob The Sausage, the creator of the famous ‘banger and mash’ menu at Shakie and St George has also slapped a juicy selection of his trademark sausages onto the menu at the Mariner. The beer garden is semi-heated and half covered and acts as an appealing sun trap for punters to enjoy a summer cider.
Stylishly decorated and family friendly with sexy little nooks to entertain in, this pub was one of my all-round favourites.

Gemini Bar
127 Kings Road Arches

This is one of the first places I ended up golfing. Absolutely packed full of people due to its humungous outdoor drinking patio it seemed like the whole of Brighton beach had flocked here for a beer, attracted to its welcoming atmosphere like camels to an oasis. Quality live bands entertain punters for free and the pretty barmaids actually bring trays of drinks out to your tables. Gemini reminds me of a modern day Brightonian version of Nancy’s bar in Oliver. Expect hard house coming from inside Gemini Bar at night and plenty of classic Brighton ravers.

RDF Show Bar
76 Preston street

The most ‘up for it’ bar I have ever been to in my life. The barmiest thing is that the women who work there actually work in lacy underwear….JUST lacy underwear which is a bit of a surprise but hey, it is Brighton after all.
The staff encourage everyone to get onto the bar and dance at the end of the night which is hilarious and very Coyote Ugly. If you like you can get your girl mates down to RDF in the day to be taught a routine to perform later that night when the bar is full! A show bar not a strip club, so please gentlemen, don’t start getting too ‘friendly’ with the bar staff, they are harder than they look!
