Bringing Cosmetics When Traveling: 10 Things To Remember

Women cannot leave home without bringing their make-up kits and some personal care stuff. Whether they are heading for work or going for a vacation, they cannot leave their personal cosmetic items. When traveling, you cannot bring your entire make-up closet. You only have to pick out stuff you cannot live without. This way, you can save space and reduce weight of your luggage.

1. Have samples of each product in small clear containers, and then label each appropriately. Your luggage would be too bulky if you have to bring all the big bottles of shampoos, conditioners, colognes, and so on. If your cosmetic items have samples in sachets, bring those sachets instead.

2. When making hotel reservations on phone or online, ask the rep if they provide toiletries. If they do, leave your own at home. This is one way to keep your luggage lighter.

3. When boarding the plane, choose to handle your cosmetics. Do not stuff them in the luggage that would be left in the cargo hold. It may get a little too hot there, and heat may affect the chemical nature of the cosmetics. Also, if you have your cosmetics in your handbag, you can apply make-up anytime.

4. Wait! Consider where you are going when preparing your travel make-up kit. If you are going to Asia, there is probably no need to bring your entire make-up kit. People in Asia wear light make-up, if anything. People in Europe, on the other hand, cannot seem to do away with their eyeliners. Backpackers and tourists on constant go may need meager make-up. Sunscreens and lip balms would do for sunny places. In general, just have a bit of color on your face. Don’t go for too much unwanted make-up.

5. Place your cosmetic kit in clear plastic bags. Organize your things this way. Some women simply toss their cosmetics in their bags and later have trouble finding their lipstick or face powder.

6. Observe travel regulations when bringing cosmetics. There are limitations on the amount of personal care products to be carried into different countries. Know these regulations so that you will not incur customs duty.

7. Check bottles and containers of cosmetic items to make sure they do not leak and wreak havoc into your things.

8. Place toiletries and cosmetics in separate plastic bags for easy retrieval of stuff. So pack your make-up, foundation, eyeliner, and lipsticks in one bag. Put tissues, toothpaste, shampoos, and deodorants in another bag. Have another bag for combs, nail clippers, hair clips, and so on. If you bring razors, scissors, and any other sharp objects, place them in safety bags.

9. Buy cosmetics and personal care items if you notice you have run out of supplies. It’s not like you have to head for a shop in a foreign city because you ran out of sunscreen or moisturizer or eye make-up. If you are on a budget, you might want consider looking for BH cosmetics coupon codes to buy online.

10. Fight the urge to bring your entire make-up kit. As long as you are not going to a fashion or modeling convention abroad, there is no need to have a suitcase full of make-up. Stick to the basics, because you do not need to look like a million dollars while touring Rome or basking under the Caribbean sun.
