British Bargain Hunters Head For Florida
It seems that even the largest retailers in the UK don’t have anything like the buying power of their American counterparts and British shoppers have found that they can save a fortune even after paying import taxes. Items like Levi jeans and popular toys are under half the UK price in the States and visitors can take home £390 worth before having to pay duty. The problem for many trans-Atlantic bargain hunters finding somewhere to stay where they can enjoy a relaxing sojourn in the sun while having convenient access to the big stores. Florida seems to tick all the right boxes for most Britons who can take keenly priced flights to cities like Orlando, Tampa and Miami. The Tampa / St. Petersburg area appears to be particularly popular since both cities have plenty of shopping facilities while there are some superb smaller resorts very nearby in which to stay. Anna Maria Island, for example, is a narrow 7 mile strip of land joined to the mainland by 3 road bridges. It has plenty of very well appointed rental properties, many of which have spectacular sea views and which open straight onto the beach. Alternatively, some have private docks for those keen on boating and seafishing. There is an exciting variety of beach bars and restaurants in which to unwind after those strenuous shopping expeditions.
