British Columbia is the most westerly province and it is no doubt the most varied in scenery. This is the home to the four hundred and forty meters Della Falls which are the highest, the tallest and broadest trees in the country. Considering this it is not surprise that British Columbia also features the world tallest totem pole in Alert Bay with is 52,7 meters at height. The world highest and longest suspension foot bridge and the Capilano Suspension Bridge are also titles that British Columbia holds. But it is mostly the varied scenery that draws people to live in and visit this place. With the most temperature climate of the country British Columbia is a perfect spot for all who enjoy skiing, surfing, scuba diving, whale watching and just plain good living. Across the Strait of Georgia from mainland British Columbia on the absolute west coast of the country is the largest island of the Pacific side of the continent – Vancouver Island. At four hundred and sixty kilometers in length and covered by the largest stand of timber in the world, Vancouver Island is a stunning place of fishing villages, beaches, mountains and rugged charm. With the mildest climate in the country this is a major retirement center and vacation spot. There are many opportunities for boating, surfing, hiking, fishing and camping all over the island. The capital of the province can be found on the south eastern tip of the island. Victoria is a wonderful, small city that is graced with English elegance, old world charm and the fragrant beauty of flowers. In February while most of Canada is still shoveling snow, the residents of Victoria take part in the annual flowers count. Over five million blooms will be counted and enjoyed each early spring.
