Britney Spears is perhaps one of the most compelling figures in the pop music world. Once America’s Pop Princess.

Spears is ranked as the eighth best-selling female recording artist in the United States with 32 million sold albums certified by the Recording Industry Association of America. As of November 2007, Spears has sold over 83 million records worldwide, making her one of the world’s best-selling music artists. Spears first appeared on national television in 1992 as a contestant on the Star Search program, and went on to star in Disney Channel’s television series The New Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1994. In 1997, Spears signed a recording contract with Jive, releasing her debut album …Baby One More Time in 1999. The album established her as a pop icon and “bonafide pop phenomenon”, credited for influencing the revival of teen pop in the late 1990s.

After more albums and an attempt at a film, Spears started to become more known for her personal life than for her music.Spears began to gain attention for her bizarre public behavior, including incidents in which she shaved her head and drove with her baby on her lap. From a Pop Star Princess to a woman of rumor and scandals. She’s now facing a big meltdown of her career. Spears is now in a situation where the world is against her.

After taking a brief time-out from the spotlight, it appears as though Spears’ career is perhaps in reboot mode. After appearing on a few television shows and releasing 2007’s Blackout, Spears is hoping to regain some of her past glory. Her next three albums debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making her the first female artist to have her first four albums debut at number one. In late 2008, her sixth studio album, Circus, also debuted at number one.
